Much Needed Fellowship, Cooking Out for the Soldiers!

As I returned to Israel, I hit the ground running! I was invited to join a cookout for a unit that I knew well and that we had helped previously with a variety of needed items. This time around we got to cook burgers and chat with the soldiers in a warm and friendly environment! I was so blessed. A highpoint of the trip was when we found out that "Guy," the cook, was a retired Israeli combat soldier, who was walking on two prosthetic legs! He lost one leg in Lebanon and after being in a wheelchair and depressed he realized he needed to continue the fight and so he learned to walk and even lead the fight again! He lost his other leg in another confrontation and still he continued on to retirement. We had no idea! What a warrior. Now he volunteers his time and money by orchestrating cookouts for units that need to have some R&R.
Another highlight was being able to share "my story" with a young man who engaged me in conversation. I love talking about G-d and how He drew me through his Word to engage with, love and support the Jewish People!
I would love to do more morale raising events such as Unit Cookouts in the future. Not only does it allow us to provide good food and a relaxing atmostphere after all they have been through but we are able to relax and engage one on one with both soldiers and other volunteers. Your support makes these cookouts possible! For a unit of 60 men the cost is approximately $1500. Wether your donation is $15 dollars or $1500 dollars every penny will be used and appreciated!
